UFC is recognized as one of the best academic institutions in Brazil, representing an important scientific and cultural legacy for local citizens and contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.
The first graduate program at UFC was established in the 1960s, with the creation of the Master’s in Mathematics on November 20, 1965. The first Master’s degree was awarded at UFC in 1967, through the Mathematics program.
The University Reform Act (Law no. 5,540 of November 28, 1968) propelled a new administrative structure at UFC, leading to the creation of the Pro-Rectorate for Research and Graduate Studies on March 13, 1969.
